Simplest of All Cakes
Ingredients
- 5.5oz (155g) Margerine
- 8oz (225g) Sugar
- 225ml Milk
- 4 eggs
- 11oz (310g) Flour
- 6 tsp baking powder (converted from 3 heaped tsp)
- 2.5 tblspn of Cocoa (or Vanilla Essence) (converted from 2 heaped dstspn)
Method
- Preheat oven to 350F (180C)
- Grease two 8" (20cm) cake tins
- Cream the margerine and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light anf fluffy
- Add one egg at a time followed by a spoonful of flour mixing as you go.
- Add milk, balance of flour, baking powder and flavouring.
- Mix well
- Pour the mixture into greased baking tins
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes (until a knitting needle comes out clean after being inserted)
